Last month, Run the Jewels provided the theme song to Mass Appeal’s new Rubble Kings documentary (synopsis below). And today, with the accompanying soundtrack due out January 15th, Killer Mike and El-P take the animated route for the song’s visual.

Directed by Shan Nicholson, “Rubble Kings Theme (Dynamite)” video depicts a story of street justice in the South Bronx in the 1970’s.

We follow “Little Nina”, who’s violently attacked by a rival gang on her way home from her grandmother’s house. What follows is an all out rumble between her gang, the fictionalized “Rubble Kings” and the “Javelins”. Run the Jewels alongside producer Little Shalimar provide the rugged soundtrack to the piece.

Pre-order the Rubble Kings OST on iTunes.

From 1968 to 1975, gangs ruled New York City. Beyond the idealistic hopes of the civil rights movement lay a unfocused rage. Neither law enforcement nor social agency could end the escalating bloodshed. Peace came only through the most unlikely and courageous of events that would change the world for generations to come by giving birth to hip-hop culture. Rubble Kings chronicles life during this era of gang rule, tells the story of how a few extraordinary, forgotten people did the impossible, and how their actions impacted New York City and the world over.
