Since signing to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music stable in early 2015, HXLT‘s sensibilities have changed both sonically (“Nightcall“) and moniker-wise (Hollywood Holt, to Holt, to HXLT). The Treated Crew member now returns with a single from his forthcoming album under G.O.O.D, slated to arrive sometime in 2016, “Guitar.”
Producer by fellow treated crew member – and cousin – Mano, the video was filmed inside what’s perhaps one of the sadder sights to see: a since-shuttered and abandoned public school in his hometown of Chicago. The somber, self-directed clip is meant to be a euphemism for the major issues crippling America’s problematic school system (gun violence isn’t the only major issue tackling the city).
