What more can be said about Chris Brown that hasn’t been splayed on gossip rags, discussed on television and dissected on the Internets at this point. He’s a lightning rod for controversy, which is rather disheartening because he is an immensely talented singer and dancer. Unfortunately his personal problems almost always overshadow his artistry, so much so that both the cover art and title of his seventh studio release Royalty is mired in controversy (the album is named after his daughter, which he conceived with another woman while still in a relationship with then-girlfriend Karrueche Tran).

Overlooking said cause célèbre, Chris took an interesting route with the album. The visuals for each released single – starting from “Liquor” all the way up to “Anyways” – all received connecting music videos, telling a story of Chris’ wild night which among other things have included fighting ninjas, making love in the shower, getting kidnapped, and dancing elaborately throughout. Anchored by the hit song “Liquor” and burgeoning banger “Back To Sleep,” Royalty only has two guest contributions from Solo Lucci and Future. The album also has a song called “KAE,” which may (or may not) be directed at his ex. Guess he just can’t stay away from controversy…

Anyways, stream Royalty below.
