I was wrong. I was dead wrong.
When I thought “Tsunami” would be the last song Russ dropped in 2015, I knew there’d be plenty of time left for the Atlanta native to prove me wrong. Naturally, he did, as Russ unveils “Potential,” which flips to the other side of the musical spectrum from his wave of confidence on the last single.
Over the course of the year, Russ’ songs have followed themes of love or his ridiculous ability to release a high volume of average-to-great loosies, and while, by name, “Potential” could fall under the latter, the rapper/singer/producer addresses the former and dissects the potential an impeding love could attain herself.
