It seems like it was only days ago when I was still comfortably sitting on the Waka Flocka hate train, without any plans of getting off. That all changed sometime late last year when I finally gave in to Shake’s recommendation to give his I Can’t Rap mixtape a chance – and boy, was I in for a surprise.
Of course, that was the day when I realized the Brick Squad rapper was trolling us all along. The brother could definitely rap, and while he’s no AZ or Kool G Rap – I had to give props where props were due. “5:56” ultimately sealed the deal.
Yesterday, Waka Flocka called out all the lames with the Supah Mario-produced “Ask Charlamagne” – a nod to Power 105/The Breakfast Club’s radio host/professional troll and his trademark Donkey of the Day serial. The cherry on top? The song samples The Velvet Underground’s “Venus In Furs.”
