A few days before X-Mas, the entire TDE organization hosted their second annual holiday concert and toy giveaway in Los Angeles, CA. Once again held at the Nickerson Garden Projects in Watts (the childhood home of Jay Rock), a numerous amount of residents were treated to free gifts for their respective loved ones, free meals and more as well as a free concert that featured every member on the Top Dawg Entertainment roster – Ab-Soul, Isaiah Rashad, Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar, MixedByAli, ScHoolboy Q, and SZA – as well as special appearances from Big Sean and Ty Dolla $ign.
While a highlight of the event was the entire Black Hippy performing “Vice City” together for the first time, the key part of the event was that it spotlighted the community’s tireless efforts for familial harmony and dispelling the notion that the Nickerson Gardens are only a source of violence and despair. As it is said near the end of the video recap below, “Each one, teach one.”
