As it mercifully chugs along into its fifteenth and final season, American Idol – once a relatively innovative take on the vintage Star Search-style talent competitions, but now a bland program that’s just taking up space on television – will undoubtedly pull out all of the stops for its concluding go-round throughout the season. However, they’ve already let one proverbial cat out of the bag when one Kanye West “auditioned” for a slot on the show.
While this isn’t exactly “new” news (a leaked clip was unveiled in October 2015), fans can now actually see the entire 90-second video of the “Facts” rapper’s tryout. Ultimately performing “Gold Digger,” he naturally would be “invited to Hollywood as a contestant.
(Ed. note: I don’t know about you, but watching Jennifer Lopez curse kinda-sorta turned me on.)
The entire season kicks off on January 6th.
