Perhaps it is a coincidence that Future released this new project soon after he took to the Twitter to lament about how the mother of his most recent child, Ciara, is asking for more child support while he allegedly does not get to see the child that often. Perhaps it is a coincidence that he’s released this new project just a few short hours before Ciara’s current significant, Russell Wilson, plays in the NFC Divisional Playoffs. And, perhaps it’s a coincidence that Future has released this new project amidst rumors that he is having issues with his What A Time To Be Alive co-conspirator Drake (who, like Future, is planning a surprise release for his next album, Views From The 6.)

Regardless, Future spends his Saturday night Sunday morning surprising fans with the release of a surprise new mixtape, Purple Reign, which, by name and art, has some Prince influence to it. Executive produced by DJ Esco and Metro Boomin, Purple Reign has production from usual collaborators Southsode, Nard & B, Zaytoven and more over 13 tracks.
