After releasing his first new project in four years, brandUn DeShay returns to the House of Dope with a creatively animated set of visuals from his goldUn Child project. And by “creatively animated,” we literally mean creatively animated.
Blending his love of video games and anime culture, branDun finds himself in interactive experiences with a variety of characters from Naruto, Metal Gear Solid, Dragon Ball Z, Final Fantasy, Pokemon, and My Neighbor Totoro among many others. DeShay explains the concept:
“I grew up admiring guys like Pharrell, Cudi, Kanye.. dudes who weren’t afraid to be themselves and more importantly, speak for the unspoken for. I think in my generation, everybody is so obsessed with being “cool” and no one is brave enough to come out and say, “HEY. F*ck it. I’m a nerd. I love anime. I love video games. AND I’ll still f*ck your b*tch and make her watch anime with me.” So, I wanna be that voice for all those people out there that don’t give a f*ck about being cool and rather just be themselves. This video is just one step of me achieving that dream.”
