Kendrick Lamar, the pride of Compton, is having himself one incredible month, and rightfully so.

Earlier this month, the man who is covering Billboard’s latest issue was awarded a platinum plaque for To Pimp A Butterfly (following much needed changes finally implemented by the RIAA).

This Monday, the 11x GRAMMY-nominated emcee will take to the stage at the Staples Center for the 58th GRAMMYs, where it is rumored that he will put on a “controversial performance.”

Today, King Kendrick was awarded the key to Compton by Mayor Aja Brown, who jokingly stated that their key was “better than Drake‘s.

During the public ceremony, Mayor Brown stated:

Kendrick Lamar is a phenomenal artist whose work has served as a catalyst to raise a new level of consciousness for this generation. His message challenges the status quo and motivates listeners to rethink our society’s institutions.
