After early reports suggested that he would be released as early as March 2016 (by his own label 1017 Records, although they have since been recanted), it now appears that Gucci Mane will in fact be released earlier than his original 2017 date… albeit, later than expected.

Journalist Neil Martinez-Belkin did some digging, and was able to find the proper release date for one Radric Davis:

This new release date, September 20th, was all but confirmed by the Twitter account of Gucci, who also announced a “Gucci Mane & Friends Tour” set to start in September.

In my opinion, I’d feel that the last thing anybody would want to do upon getting released from prison – particularly after spending multiple years inside – is immediately be displayed in front of thousands of people while rapping. Not to mention, the terms of his post-prison probation haven’t even been set. It’s not like he’s going to get out and everything is going to be back to normal for him; I mean, the last time he was free LeBron James was with the Miami Heat, Nelson Mandela was still alive and Frozen was dominating the box offices. Nonetheless, it’ll be interesting to see what actually happens once he is free.

As a bonus, here’s Shlohmo‘s take on Gucci’s “Ho1,” in honor of his birthday, below.
