My favorite comic book/graphic novel writer of all time is Frank Miller. From Batman: The Dark Knight Returns to Sin City, on the lowest of keys his influence on some of today’s most beloved characters remains prevalent to this day. Both the epic Christopher Nolan trilogy of Batman films and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice take cues from his works, and Marvel/NetFlix’ adaptation of Daredevil is steeped in his dark, noir-style.
Which makes the upcoming second season of the series so interesting. After taking down The Kingpin, Matt Murdock now has to deal with both The Punisher — essentially, the extreme version of himself — and his ex Elektra Natchios. (Very) briefly mentioned in Season 1, this trailer shows an an expansive look into the relationship between the two… and that her sociopathic nature is still intact.
Should they keep them both after Season Two, I’m betting that Season Three will feature both the return of The Kingpin and the introduction of Bullseye. Or, at least I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
March 18th can’t come soon enough.
