M.I.A. – “Boom ADD”

blame it on Patrick Glynn February 25, 2016

Expanding on her “Boom Skit” from 2013’s Matangi, M.I.A. released the full version of the song with “Boom ADD.”

Kicking it off with the original’s tongue-in-cheek self-deprecation dealing with the NFL and her middle finger at the 2012 Super Bowl halftime show, the British-Sri Lankan emcee continues the song with expanded commentary of overruling American capitalism. She says, “American tech outsourced to my city, made by a hippie, yeah, it’s fuckin’ trippy,” before mentioning how those same tech companies won’t let the people in her country, Sri Lanka, and India use their services.

M.I.A. calls ’em like she sees ’em, and God bless her for that. Even with “Boom ADD” and “Borders,” I’m ready for more M.I.A. social commentary. Listen to the extended song below.
