Sunday night at a benefit event for the terrible water crisis in Flint, Michigan hosted by director Ryan Coogler, Vic Mensa debuted a snippet of a new song called “16 Shots.”
The song is dedicated to and influenced by Laquan McDonald, a 17-year-old shot 16 times by police officer Jason Van Dyke in Chicago. Using the occurrence to magnify the larger systemic issues in the city, Vic has a great deal of passion while delivering the lyrics full of disgust and anguish toward the problems Chicago faces.
