On or around April 1st, J-Zone will release his seventh solo album, Fish-n-Grits. And today, the self-proclaimed “jack of all trades, master of zero” kicks things off with the project’s first single, “Funky” b/w “Go Back To Sellin’ Weed.”

Doubling as the latest installment in his ongoing vinyl 7″ series, the single consists of a “Funky” instrumental on Side-A — with Zone on the drums, his friend Pablo on the wall guitars and plenty of oddball moog riffs.

The B-Side features a track called “Go Back To Sellin’ Weed,” which Zone breaks down in the most eloquent way possible…

“If you’ve ever been accosted by someone selling their rap CDs in Times Square or you’re sick of artists from the ’90s running Kickstarters that are way over budget for their comeback albums (ahem, TLC), you love it. I encourage a life of petty crime for all who make a mockery of the arts because they’re easy to break into. The music business is a circus and I hope the elephants trample everybody.”

While you’re at it, press play on Zone, Prince Paul and Sacha Jenkins’—together as SuperBlack—new single, “White Privilege.”
