Westside Gunn has been building his reputation as a steady and consistent source of dense lyricism. Collaborating with everyone from Conway to Statik Selektah to Apollo Brown, the New York-reared and Atlanta-based rapper has finally released a solo body of work in the form of FLYGOD.
An 18-track release, the project is loaded with guest features: Action Bronson, Roc Marciano, Danny Brown, Meyhem Lauren, Skyzoo Your Old Droog, Alchemist, Statik Selektah, and a host of others. It almost feels like a compilation, as there are guests on 13 of the 18 tracks. But perhaps that’s by design: all that fly godliness can’t be contained to one person.
