Headlining his own Mass Appeal x SXSW concert, appropriately titled Live At The BBQ, Nas surprised fans by unveiling a new song he crafted using vocals from the late J Dilla.

Titled “The Sickness,” the track — which is produced by Madlib — will land on the forthcoming posthumous Dilla LP, The Diary, slated to arrive on April 15th.

Although the audio is murky at best, the track features Dilla and Nas going back and forth over the beat. In a sense, it is essentially an old Jaylib sound (Madlib on the beat, J Dilla on the vocals) with Nas on the track. Why it wasn’t actually done in 2001 (when Nas was, arguably, at a creative peak thanks to the rift with JAY Z at the time) I do not know, though. A bonus track off of The Diary (which can be available for pre-order now), preview it below.

UPDATE: Nas also brought out Dave East to perform their Hate Me Now collaboration, “Forbes List.”
