Last year, we introduced you to the sounds of Brooklyn-via-Jersey producer MentPlus, who delivered a short-and-sweet hors d’oeuvre course on a turntable platter, the 6-track beat tape Stormy Nights.
The project is a modest lesson in constructing the perfect beat that could adjust the listener’s emotion, purely through sound. Very few producers can successfully pull such a feat off.
Today, Ment — with the help of High Water Music label head Sucio Smash (who also serves as video director), recreates the warm sounds of “All My Friends” through visual cues, enlisting a small group of young skaters whom they follow through New York City, in a day-in-the-life.
You can purchase Stormy Nights digitally via iTunes, or physically on black cassette tape or limited edition black-and-orange vinyl.
