Freeway Chronicles Battle With Kidney Disease In ‘Free Will’ Documentary

blame it on JES7 April 9, 2016

In late 2015, Leslie Edward Pridgen — better know to rap fans as Freeway — was rushed to the hospital following kidney failure.

While the condition, known in the medical world as renal failure, can be attributed to diabetes, hypertension, or when the kidney is bombarded with harmful toxins, the result of Philly Freezer’s episode is not entirely known.

But the slick City of Brotherly Love wordsmith now realizes how deadly such an ailment can be, and in October, Free participated in the city’s Kidney Walk, performing at the Philadelphia Museum of Art to raise awareness, as well as “money that supports National Kidney Foundation programs and services for kidney patients, their families and people at risk.”

Now, Free has revealed plans to release a new album and documentary titled Free Will. The latter will chronicle his battle since going through the painful ordeal, including how he manages to record music while simultaneously dealing with the uncomfortable process known as dialysis, and patiently awaiting the delivery of a new kidney. Watch the official trailer for the documentary — due to arrive April 29th — up top.
