Royce 5’9″ is in the promotional stages of pushing his fantastic new LP, Layers. Sunday night, the Detroit native sat down on Real Late with Peter Rosenberg, and the conversation got pretty personal, which always makes for an enjoyable talk.
Throughout the interview, Royce opened up about his alcoholism and how being sober has helped his music. “After getting sober, I felt the need to be a little bit more introspective,” he said. “For a long time, I didn’t care about anything.” It’s always good to see someone get sober let alone find more success and breathe new life after doing so.
In addition, he discussed his relationships with Eminem and DJ Premier and how he helped the latter breathe new life into his own career. Royce also said he’d “like” for PRhyme 2 to come out in December, but he can’t make any promises despite being in the process of making music that’s “really gonna floor people.”
