I can assure y’all, this ain’t no random occurrence.

The day after popping up on Drake’s VIEWS (in the form of a sample, he was cut from “Controlla”), Popcaan dishes out a bright single, “Ova Dweet,” right on time for the warm weather.

In recent years, the American mainstream has embraced the dancehall and reggae influences that have infused some of the largest singles in pop music (“Work,” “I Know There Gonna Be (Good Times“). But the artist who influence or feature on said songs haven’t found as much individual success.

If there’s anyone who could try and reach a certain level of fame on the American charts, though, it’s Popcaan. He’s been melodically flown into ears for the last year and a half — he’s just got to deliver his own tunes that can be just as infectious as the ones he’s featured on.

The Jamaican gives it his best go with “Ova Dweet,” which you can listen to below.
