LeBron James To Star In ‘Space Jam 2’

blame it on Patrick Glynn May 2, 2016

I’m only 22 years old, but I’m officially old as hell.

The first Space Jam movie came out in 1996, and I remember religiously watching it multiple times a year growing up. (I always got freaked when Michael Jordan got zapped down the cup on the golf course. Little things like that and animals running through a living room a la Jumanji always made me cringe. I was not a strong boy.)

Today, though, it was announced Space Jam is going to get a sequel starring the current leader of the basketball and sports worlds, LeBron James, according to TMZ. Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig and the of the Looney Tunes will return alongside LeBron in the (assumed) partially animated movie.

It’s been rumored for years, but after finally securing a director (Justin Lin of Fast & Furious franchise fame), the ball will finally get rolling — or shooting, there’s so many puns to be made here — on the film.

UPDATE: According to LeBron’s personal reporter, Brian Windhorst, James hasn’t officially signed on for Space Jam 2. We still think it’ll happen, though. Always go with your gut, kids.

Even better? You KNOW it’s going to come with a solid soundtrack. The first one had R. Kelly’s “I Believe I Can Fly,” Biz Markie and the Spin Doctors’ “That’s The Way (I Like It)” and, of course, the iconic theme song from the Quad City DJs. Jay Z, D’Angelo, Monica, Coolio and plenty more also starred on the tape.

Who do y’all think will appear on the next soundtrack? And will Bill Murray reprise his roll? So many damn questions.

Revisit the theme song below. (This better be in the next one.)
