Fans have not heard from Alicia Keys in a while: her last single was “28 Thousand Days,” back in July 2015, and she has not released an album since 2012’s Girl on Fire. However, in the four years since the release of Girl she’s kept busy: she has given birth to two children, one of which — Egypt — is a budding producer in his own right, appeared on the television show Empire, and signed on to be a judge on the reality competition series The Voice.

After the brief hiatus, Keys returns with “In Common.” Produced by Illangelo (The Weeknd, Majid Jordan, M.I.A.), the song is a departure from her piano-driven ballads and is an uptempo and breezy track (Ed. note: THIS IS NOT “TROPICAL HOUSE,” CULTURAL APPROPRIATORS). Her husband Swizz Beatz recently announced that she will release her sixth album sometime in 2016; perhaps this is the first offering from it.
