Nas is slowly moving his creativity and money into the television and film industries. After it was reported Nasir Jones had a big role in Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming Netflix series about the beginnings of hip-hop in the 1970s, he now has a movie coming out that he executively produced.

The Land is set to drop in theaters July 29. It revolved around the story of a young man growing up in the streets of Cleveland, using skateboarding to escape the life of crime and poverty around him. “More than a crime drama, THE LAND is a beautifully rendered story about friendship, values, and what it means for disaffected youth to come of age on the streets of Cleveland,” the film’s Youtube page describes.

The film starts Jorge Lendeborg Jr. as the central characters, with Erykah Badu, Michael K. Williams and Machine Gun Kelly having various roles.

The trailer indicates the soundtrack will feature new music from Nas, Badu, Kanye West, Jeremih and plenty more, which layers another reason to pay attention to The Land.
