For years, Charlamagne Tha God has been the center of trolling and agitating in the hip-hop universe, and 2016 is no difference. He and his fellow Breakfast Club members’ disrespek of Birdman created one of the funniest memes of the year, but who was the initial reasoning for Birdman’s tirade? Charlamagne, of course, who brought up Birdman’s overrule and actions with previous guests like Trick Daddy and Rick Ross. (Oh, and he got a name drop in the midst of Drake’s chopping up of Meek Mill.)

With his profile rising, Charlamagne was invited on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where they discussed growing up in South Carolina, why both he and the host put French twists on their name and how Charlamagne — real name Lenard McKelvey — sold crack to get by, which influenced the name of his persona.

And it turns out, Stephen Colbert’s brother taught at Charlamagne’s middle school. The world is small, and it keeps getting smaller.

Watch both segments below. I don’t know if selling crack has ever been discussed this much on late night television.
