Guess What, 80s Babies? ‘Voltron’ Is Returning For a New Netflix Series!

blame it on JES7 May 15, 2016

I know it sounds cliché, but it really is great to be alive in 2016. 10 years ago, the thought of a completely cohesive Marvel Cinematic Universe would have been non-existent. Well, not entirely. We still would have wished for it. But we’re now finally living in that moment, and seeing all of our favorite characters we grew up reading (or watching) on the big screen is enough to make us grown folk cry. [Sidenote: I shed tears of joy on my first, second and third viewing of Captain America: Civil War. Because, Spider-Man and Black Panther!]

Just as with fashion, movies and television shows are getting the “retro” treatment, and the latest to join the club is the 80s classic cartoon Voltron, which is getting an official reboot, thanks to Dreamworks & Netflix!

Director/storyboard artist Lauren Montgomery (Avatar: The Last Airbender, the series, not the movie) and director Joaquim Dos Santos (The Legend of Korra) are set to serve as showrunners, while Tim Hedrick will helm the role as head writer. The cast is as follows: Steven Yeun (the Red Lion), Jeremy Shada (the Blue Lion), Bex Taylor-Klaus (the Green Lion), Josh Keaton (the Black Lion) and Tyler Labine (the Yellow Lion).

Five Earth teens – Keith, Lance, Hunk, Pidge and Shiro – who become the last line of defense for the galaxy in an intergalactic battle against the evil alien force led by King Zarkon

You’ll be able to watch all 13 episodes when it hits Netflix on June 10th.
