Mobb Deep half Havoc and producer Alchemist have been close friends and working associates since the 1990s, with Al providing many a backdrop throughout the Mobb’s albums. However, while Al has released several albums with Havoc’s rhyming partner Prodigy (starting with 2007’s Return of the Mac), he and Hav have not collaborated on their own project togehter.
That is, until now: the two have released their formal debut as a duo, The Silent Partner. At 11 tracks, Havoc’s own proficient production talents take the proverbial backseat, as he wraps his lyrical tendencies across Alchemist’s melodic backdrops. Joining the two throughout the album are Prodigy, Method Man, and Cormega. The Silent Partner, as well as its instrumentals, can be grabbed on iTunes now, and can be streamed below.
