The last time the Jurassic 5 put out music, in 2006, Twitter was created, Saddam Hussein was lynched, and Kobe Bryant was the recipient of a Raja Bell clothesline in the NBA Playoffs. However, after periodic tours and individual releases, the collective of Akil, Zaakir, Marc 7, DJ Nu-Mark, Chali 2na, and Cut Chemist have returned with their first new song since their fourth album Feedback.

Offering a “Pay-what-you-want” option, “Customer Service” is a welcome return to form for the troupe, as their vintage hip hop sound remains as wonderfully dusty as ever. Chali, Akil, Zaakir, and Marc 7 trade verses back-and-forth without missing a step, while DJ Nu-Mark’s Edwin Birdsong-sampled boom bap remains razor-sharp. Freshly united, J5 will hit the seas for a series of European dates; however, statesaid fans can expect them to hit their respective towns soon too.
