Twenty-five is the age commonly known as the “Quarter-life crisis,” where young adults begin to have doubts about their lives due to the stress that comes with being an adult. One can only imagine the stress a rapper at 25 can experience, and AK of the Brooklyn duo The Underachievers aims to convey those thoughts on “Illuminate.”

Celebrating his birthday, The Savior unloads all of the pressures of being a mid-twenties successful creative throughout the track, proclaiming that “If this is my final step, I’ll take a leap.” Being 25 means that one is at the crossroads of wanting to hold on to the rebellious spirit of the teenage years while having to deal with real-world issues like rent and bills., and it appears that AK is tryng to balance both the best he can.
