The O2 in London once again played host to the 2016 Red Bull Culture Clash, where four heavy soundsystems battled it out for the coveted trophy.

Eskimo Dance (founded by East London Godfather of Grime Wiley), UKG All Stars, Wiz Khalifa and his Taylor Gang and Dre Skull’s Mixpak (a Brooklyn-based independent dancehall label which houses the likes of Vybz Kartel, Popcaan and Spice) all threw their hats into the ring last night.

Anyone who follows soundclash culture knows it all boils down to not just the amount of dubplates one has stashed in their boxes, but the quality and exclusivity of each dub (just ask Japan’s number one sound, Mighty Crown), and although Taylor Gang set things off with a dub of Desiigner’s number one platinum hitPanda,” the crown ultimately went to Mixpak and the Unruly Boss’ Popcaan who mashed up the dance with an exclusive dub of Drake’s first number one single, “One Dance” complete with brand new recorded lyrics tailored specifically for their sound.

In the end, Taylor Gang’s tinpan sound was just no match for OVO Unruly. The best part, Drake didn’t have to use the typical violent cues that usually run rampant in these type of soundclashes.
