Hak was one of the two rappers in RatKing (including Wiki, who recently dropped his solo debut, lil me) before recently leaving the group. Conveniently, the news came along around the same time as the release of a debut solo album of his own, June.

In an interview with i-D, Hak said his involvement with the group simply “didn’t feel right” anymore. “It’s all love that I project towards them, but I just felt like I wasn’t being treated nicely to keep it in a hunnid, they didn’t see me for me,” the Harlem native said.

He described the album as having a summer feel to it, too. “”You know that feeling of your foot in a sweaty shoe with the moistness rolling around? That’s it.”

June lands at 15 tracks with minimal features allowing Hak to navigate his newfound solo career with as much creativity as he pleases. Stream the album below.
