I first listened to clipping. back in 2014 when they dropped their self-titled LP. They fall under multiple genres, but the best way to describe them may be as noise rap, a genre bands like Death Grips have become most notable under.

The album featured vivid, high-energy raps alongside loud, electronic production that painted an image of blood, sex, gore, entertainment and hip-hop all in one. Take “Body & Blood” as a good baseline.

But since dropping CLPPNG, the band took a two-year break much — due in large part to lead rapper Daveed Diggs’ lead role in critically acclaimed broadway musical Hamilton, a part we won a Tony Award for.

But now with the hype of Hamilton coming back down to Earth, Diggs and the rest of clipping. have returned with a new EP, Wriggle.

The project came out last week, and despite multiple emails from Bandcamp reminding me the trio had resurfaced, I hadn’t given it much attention until the video for the title track dropped today. And if “Wriggle” is any indication, clipping. haven’t missed a beat — albeit a vicious and uptempo one.

The video features various clips like a scene from Pulp Fiction, viral cat videos, Power Rangers, .gifs, Donald Trump and more all dancing (err, jerking) to the rapid tune.

Watch below, and head to clipping.’s Bandcamp to cop the Wriggle.
