Despite the summer being known as a period where television programming is relatively lacking (outside of the Olympics in Brazil, there’s not much else but American Ninja Warrior and celebrity “Game Nights” on ABC), Netflix is hoping that a new series will attract more couch potatoes out of those beach bums.
With creative input from Nas, director Baz Luhrmann’s “musical drama” The Get Down is garnering attention throughout 2016. Now, as it prepares for a debut of August 12th on the streaming service, it was recently announced that the first season was set to be split into two halves. Starring Shameik Moore (DOPE), Jaden Smith, and Jimmy Smits, a new 30-second trailer — which contains a brief preview of a new song from Nas — has been released and can be seen below.
