Earlier this year, Tinashe was set on releasing her sophomore album Joyride. But as we inched closer to the beginning of her Joyride tour at the end of February, there wasn’t a release date for the album ahead of the promotional tour. (Usually people wait until the album is out to go on tour, because they’re too busy to work on the album any more once they’re doing a show a night.)

Halfway through the Joyride tour, Tinashe cancelled the rest of her dates in order to finish the album. That was three months ago, and that was the last we heard from her until today.

Tonight, her newest single, “Superlove,” will land on iTunes, which hopefully signals that Joyride is done and she can get back to he regularly scheduled programming.

“Superlove” is a synth-driven pop song, sounding like an uptempo, ’80s-style tune dragged onto the modern-day pop radio. It’s one that, once it’s played live, has the potential to showcase her utility belt of talents from singing to dancing (and rapping, apparently).
