Medasin has already shown his ability to create ear-blasting bangers — he and Masego’s “Girls That Dance” and IshDARR’s “Sugar,” both released last year, are evidence.

But over the last 12 months, the Dallas native has seemed to hone his musicianship into a calmer and more intimate sound all while staying true to his electronic roots, which has helped him garner a ridiculous following on SoundCloud. (Most of his songs hover around half a million plays.)

The end result is songs like “Daydream” — a soundtrack for a rom-com set on a beach in the year 2154.

JOBA’s soft vocals are the initial standout before Medasin’s tropical drums and pulsating synthesizers — all sprinkled with a layer of dust — dominate your attention throughout the rest of the tune.
