In an instant, Troy Ave‘s live changed on May 25th, when he and other assailants got into a shootout during a concert starring T.I., leaving a bullet in his leg and one of his closest friends dead. Now, while still fighting charges of attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon after bailing out of jail, Troy has filed a lawsuit against both Irving Plaza and Live Nation.

In documents filed by his lawyer, Scott Leemon, Troy — née Roland Collins — the suit alleges that the Manhattan venue failed to properly search VIP entrants for weapon during the concert in May, a security breach that both Leemon and Ave both feel led to fatal repercussions.

“He is the victim here. He did not bring a gun into this place. And we are seeking redress for the negligence,” says Leemon. “The venue had a duty to protect Troy, as an invited performer, and they failed him miserably.” The suit charges that a member of a third party attacked Troy, drew a weapon, shot him and killed his bodyguard Ronald “Banga” McPhatter.

The lawsuit, filed Monday morning (August 8th) in the Brooklyn Supreme Court, also claims that Troy Ave has been hurt physically and financially from the ordeal. The entire, 17-page document can be read in its entirety below.

Troy has also announced that he will release a new project, Roland Collins, slated to drop on August 12th.
