Following the release of his acclaimed project Death Of A Salesman last year, Syracuse, New York rapper Tone Atlas provides a fresh link for his latest EP, Hors D’Oeuvres.
The seven-track EP, led by a spoken-word intro inspired by the classic HBO film Gotti is a throwback to the days of Soul Train, 90s Hip-Hop and an era when Rap City on BET ruled the airwaves — ie. the project’s second track, “’97 Sh*t” featuring a cleverly flipped sample of Gloria Scott’s “Love Me, Love Me, Love Me or Leave Me, Leave Me, Leave Me.”
