Just in time for the onset of cookout season, Maxwell released his highly-anticipated fifth album blackSUMMERS’night to much acclaim. A bit more somber than its predecessor, 2009’s BLACKsummers’night, the LP still had its fair share of sultry ballads.
“1990x” was one such song, which now has its own set of visuals. The Philip Andelman-directed video features Max and a beautiful woman getting hot and heavy throughout a dusky residence. It may sound like a typical visual affair, but it’s from Maxwell: at this point someone’s been conceived to his music already, and that is not a bad thing at all.
