Yesterday was an active day for Sampha in terms of promoting his upcoming album Process. His interview with Scott Vener and Pharrell on OTHERtone radio aired on Beats 1, and he debuted a new song, “No One Knows Me (Like The Piano),” on Santa Monica’s NPR affiliate, KCRW.

The song is dedicated to both the piano he first learned how to play when he was 3 and to whose home the piano resided in: his mom’s.

In a profile with The FADER a couple months ago, Sampha revealed the song — originally called “Mother’s Home” — was written when he moved back to his mom’s place in her final months of life.

“No one knows me like the piano in my mother’s home,” he sings on the heartbreaking but gorgeous tune, remembering his mother’s love through things like her encouragement of his talents.

“My mother was always solid. This is what you love, I’m behind you 100 percent. Take your time, don’t rush. Be ready to be knocked backwards. The music industry is not easy,'” Sampha’s brother said of their mom, who pushed him to do what he loves.

Listen to the song below.

UPDATE: Apparently, the song that was debuted on NPR isn’t the “correct version” or something, so we’ve taken it down our of respect for Sampha.
