Where Michael Christmas’ 2015 output bore his debut album, What A Weird Day (released less than 11 months ago), the additions to his catalog this year between solo albums has been equally impressive.

Following his Baggy Eyes EP and features on songs with Asher Roth, Mac Miller and others, the Bostonian links with experienced producer Prefuse 73 as Fudge for Lady Parts — a 15-track project released via Lex Records.

Christmas and Prefuse — who has produced for Busdriver, the Flaming Lips, TV on the Radio and other artists worldwide — largely keep to themselves on the project outside of a couple songs, where they’re joined by D.R.A.M., Pervana and Alex Mali.

The two came together because of the label they share: Lex Records. They said they wanted another collaboration like BADBADNOTGOOD and Ghostface Killah’s Sour Soul, Christmas told Passionweiss.

“Basically what happened—and this is to my knowledge, it was a little while ago—how they described it to me originally was like the Ghostface and BadBadNotGood collaboration. They were talking to Prefuse and they asked him, “Who do you want to do this shit with?” and he ended up picking me. And so when he picked me they were like, “You can just go hard on this. Do whatever you want with it. I’m gonna give you these really fucking weird beats, and you just take them shits and do whatever.”
