deM atlaS’ mF deM mixtape — where he spit over a handful of MF DOOM beats — has been in steady rotation for a couple months now. One of the brightest songs on the project is “Perfect Day,” where the MPLS native rapped over DOOM’s “Mandrake” off Special Herbs, and it now has a video.
It really is amazing what deM did with these DOOM beats, as “Mandrake” was already a happy instrumental in itself. He twisted it into a song of positivity as he yelps over the Doobie Brothers-sampling beat about loving yourself and finding hope in dark moments.
He brings that mood to life in the video as he dances and skates around Minnesota on a summer day.
