It’s been a long time since Kevin Abstract‘s last solo project.
MTV1987 came out in the middle of 2014, and the Texas native has spent much of the last two years working on the next one — American Boyfriend — which is due out some time this year, in addition to heading the “American boy band” BROCKHAMPTON.
The first real sampling of music from Abstract’s next album was back in November when he shared the cinematic “Echo” visual. Ten months later, here we are again with another new song debuted in the form on a video called “Empty.”
The visual tells “a suburban love story” between a high schooler and his girlfriend with Kevin Abstract — or “Helmet Boy” — right in the middle of it.
It was directed by Abstract himself, and Michael Uzowuru helped work on the story with him.
