The Roots last released an album in 2014 with …And Then You Shoot Your Cousin. Since, the band has stayed busy with a daily job on The Tonight Show all while organizing multiple concerts and festivals in New York, Philadelphia and beyond.

The wait for a new album — over two years at this point — seems to be coming to a close, though, as Questlove has announced they’re working on an album tentatively titled End Game.

It’ll be the band’s 17th studio album.

Questo said the band will be return to the style of making music they used on Illadelph Halflife and later albums, which is they’ll play music during the day, then sample the recorded jam sessions to make beats from them.

While Questlove didn’t give a time frame as to when they project will come out, knowing Black Thought, Questlove and the crew are working in the studio again amongst their hectic schedules is a blessing.
