Supa Bwe is one of Chicago’s best and hardest working rappers/producers/songwriters. He’s released a constant stream of music in the solo realm and with Hurt Everybody (before and) since I first discovered his song “Treat Me” with Mick Jenkins in 2014.

His latest song — “Moon Goddess” — trends toward intimate and loving as he flips Bell Biv Devoe’s “Poison” from a warning into a sincere love note begging for a girl’s touch back. Just as he flipped the sample, it’s almost like Bwe flipped the roles of the sample, as well, becoming the poisonous half of the relationship — though he’s not ready to admit that yet.
