Ash Riser‘s connection to Top Dawg Entertainment runs long and deep, dating back to 2009 on The Kendrick Lamar EP. Since, he’s provides vocals in the form of a feature or in the background on a handful of projects released by Top Dawg.
His latest tie-in to the label comes in the form of a solo release, “Smile, Wave & Laugh,” produced by TDE in-house producer Tae Beast. He also produced “Keisha’s Song (Her Pain),” which Ash featured on, from Kendrick’s Section.80 album.
Riser uses “Smile, Wave & Laugh” to detail his standing in the music industry — a common theme in his music displayed on “Finally” and the LATE PRAISE EP. Essentially, the Cali native steps around the fakes, enters politician mode and offers a kind smile, a wave and a laugh to the industry heads and moves on with his art.
