Texas native Khalid’s biggest song, “Location,” found part of its excellence in relaying a message across a simple and calming backdrop. His new single, “Hopeless,” takes the opposite role, though, starting with uptempo and funky energy and carrying it throughout three-minute song.
“Hopeless” follows the common theme of falling uncontrollably in love, but no matter the usual themes, it allows the listener to dive just a bit deeper into who exactly Khalid — who hasn’t dropped a ton of music yet — is.
After the song, Khalid takes to Zane Lowe, who premiered the song on Beats 1, about why the 18-year-old fully committed himself to music, where his sound is headed, his dream collaborator and more.
