The Truman Show is a movie starring Jim Carey that revolves around a man whose life in broadcast 24/7 around the world — only he’s the only one who doesn’t know it’s happening.

Sylvan LaCue takes the idea that “the world revolves around me,” the pressure to perform that comes with it and Truman’s exploratory personality and puts it into song with Xavier Omär, a San Antonio-based artist who most recently appeared on Mick Jenkins’ The Healing Component.

“I always thought it was interesting how determined [Truman] was to explore and see the world and yet, how alone he felt amongst a world of people who were seemingly ‘there for him,'” LaCue told Pigeons & Planes. “[The song is] about being aware of your comfort zone and choosing to step out of it. Regardless of the obstacles thrown in front of you to prevent it.”
