A couple weeks ago, the LA-bred, Portland-based The Last Artful, Dodgr appeared on Sway in the Morning — a good sign your career is progressing in the right way, if you’d never been on there before. She stopped by the day after appearing alongside Aminé when he performed “Caroline” on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show.

While there, Dodgr talked about the late start to her music career, which was preceded by a degree in journalism and a job in freelance graphic design. In 2013, she decided to quit her job and penned a song noting how she’d eventually make her way to Sway’s infamous morning show and “rip it to shreds.”

It turns out that’s the song that caught Sway’s attention and got her on Sway’s show in November.

We now how the privilege of premiering the song, which you can hear and download for free via Fresh Selects below. The warbling, determined effort is produced by Ri’ohn Indigo with co-production from G Koop.

While “Sway” won’t land on it, Dodgr’s new album, Bone Music, with Neill Von Tally will be out soon.
