There’s a new documentary coming out on Apple Music highlighting the use and development of the 808 drum machine, which really picked up hip-hop and helped transform the way people made beats.
One of the earliest and most successful users of the drum machine was Afrika Bambaataa, who made legendary songs like “Planet Rock,” “Renegades of Funk” and tons of others with the machine.
With the movie set to drop this Friday, Apple Music liberated Kaytranada’s remix of Bambaataa’s “Planet Rock,” which will be one of many they release in promotion of the documentary. The song was debuted on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show.
