That Time Gucci Mane Said He Made A Song With Outkast? Not So Fast…

When Gucci Mane was fresh out of prison, he was properly feeling himself when everyone came calling for his services. He took to Snapchat in September and said the following:

“I just did a record for Outkast, I just did a record for Wayne. I just did a record for Boosie. I just did a record for Project Pat. I just did a record for E-40.”

Now, properly, we got excited, not that E-40 and Gucci Mane made a song together, but because Gucci said, “Outkast.”

There’s long been rumors (or at least millions of fans’ wishes that we call “rumors”) that André 3000 and Big Boi would make another album together, and Gucci — an Atlanta legend alongside Outkast — saying he made a song with them made those wishes seem even more promising.

Big Boi, though, recently clarified what Gucci MEANT to say.

“Me and Gucci have a record,” he told Creative Loafing Tampa in an interview. “When he said “Outkast” he was just saying that I’m part of the group, so he was excited because the song was jammin’ like a motherfucker. I do have Gucci on this album, most definitely.”

This might be Big Boi trying to qualm rumors, or maybe Gucci let something slip that André 3000 was in the studio while they were recording. But it doesn’t seem like we’re getting an Outkast album any time soon.

As Meka would say, “BOO THIS MAN.”

Although, there was some good news in the interview — Big Boi said his album was almost done.

“I’m so ready for this record to come out, I’m about 80 percent done,” he said. “I’ll be done probably by the end of January, but I’m really excited for people to hear it and perform it. It’s gonna be one of those records that people love top to bottom.”

Don’t forget Big Boi and Gucci’s Sir Lucious Left Foot collaboration, “Shine Blockas,” either. This is one of the best songs from the South this decade.
